Useful apps to promote wellbeing and manage stress

Harnessing the power of positive technology … here are some apps we have found to be helpful.

We are always looking out for new ideas, so let us know if you come across any resources you would like to share with other young people!

Wake Up Rosie – is a new alarm clock app designed to help everyone make happiness part of their daily routine!

The Headspace App is a guide to meditation and mindfulness, it teaches you to meditate in just a few minutes a day. The basic pack is free, then there is a monthly subscription to access more advance meditations to help with stress, anxiety, sleep, relationships and concentration for example.  There is also a Headspace for Kids pack.

Stop, Breathe, Think is a great app which guides you through meditation, mindfulness and relaxation techniques. It has a range of activities to help you connect with your body, regulate or calm your breathing, sleep better or learn yoga. It also lets you track your progress and measure your moods. Basic activities are free, then there is a subscription to upgrade to the premium services. You can download it here

Smiling Mind is a free mindfulness and meditation app originally designed for young people – mindfulness can be very helpful for relaxation, learning to manage stress and boosting your mood. Its programme is adapted to suit different age groups from 7  years to adults. “Smiling Mind is a simple tool that gives a sense of calm, clarity and contentment.”  Download free here

Pacifica uses simple relaxation and CBT techniques to help you manage stress and anxiety. It also allows you to track your moods and health habits, identify unhelpful patterns, set personal and achievable goals, and see your progress. Find out more and download for free.

Worry Knot  – Can’t stop worrying or overthinking? The Worry Knot app teaches you to manage your worry with lessons, distractions and a proven worry management technique.
